love(lee)
I recently got engaged (I say recently, but when I count it out on my fingers it has been 4 months already!) to my boyfriend Lee when he came to visit me whilst I was on one of my annual stints in Amsterdam. We went to Paris for a few days because Lee had (a) never been to Europe and (b) loves art, so I suppose what better place to visit than Paris. Also, whenever anyone asks me “how did he propose?” I can just say “well, we were in Paris…”, which is kind of awesome. Unfortunately the development of one of my films from the Paris trip went a bit awry (that’s film for you!), but I had taken a few shots on another film when we were waiting for our train to Paris in Amsterdam. I think my man is pretty photogenic :)
these photos were taken by a colleague of Lee’s (see his work here, he takes the most beautiful portraits)

route 63
I have recently made the move back to Cape Town. As excited as I am about the move, I will miss Johannesburg terribly. I really connected with that great big city. My sister flew up last week so that I wouldn’t have to drive my car down on my own.
We decided to take a lesser known route home via route 63 that connects Calvinia with Komga via Carnarvon, Victoria West, Graaff-Reinet, Somerset East and King William’s Town. Although the trip was longer than taking the regular national roads, it was so worth it for the scenery. Definitely a road worth taking if only to explore all the amazing little towns.

homage to the colder seasons
It’s my last week in Amsterdam this time round and… well… it was a (very) short summer. So now I’m back home to wintery South Africa, and then in 3 months I will be back in Amsterdam in the middle of autumn/beginning of winter. Which means, in effect, another 4 months of colder weather! I’m not complaining though, I think that when it comes to choosing between hot and cold I tend to sway in favour of the latter. So to get/keep me in the brrrrrrr mood here are a collection of photos that I took during autumn/winter in South Africa. The last three photos were actually taken with a disposable camera because I forgot to buy film before leaving for a long weekend (whoops) and could not find film in the towns we visited. But I think they came out really well anyway.
