(on the hill: on the road)
OppiKoppi is by far South Africa’s largest, dustiest, thorniest music festival. Each year (it has been going since 1994) it has grown in size: more stages (six this year), more acts (100+ this year), more attendees (20 000+ this year). This is probably the antithesis of Glastonbury weather wise. Think a dry, dusty red landscape with temperatures close to zero degrees at night rising to the high 20’s during the day. Throw in the inability to take a shower for 3 days and you literally have created mordor (see the last photo below). The photos in this post were taken enroute to the festival.
