Oh  my sweet goodness, another post about ice cream… must be that (hot) time of year. This time round it’s something closer to home. If you are anywhere in the vicinity of Stellenbosch tomorrow, do yourselves a favour and go and sample some of Jacques Albertyn (chef from Tokara’s Deli-cat-tessen) and his girlfriend ‘s homemade ice cream. They are setting up “shop” at Flowers in the Foyer in Ryneveld Street for Valentines Day, and I can’t think of anything better than sharing ice cream with someone special on a sunny day surrounded by beautiful flowers. In fact… buy some flowers whilst you are at it. Their flavours are unexpected, but delicious! I personally tried the “lemon-basil” and “toasted praline sunflower seed” which were oh so good. For the more adventurous there is vanilla with olive oil and sea salt.
